Cherry Almond Smoothie

This smoothie contains ground flax that has omega-3—a powerful anti-inflammatory. Also cherries are known as a way to calm gout.

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients
1 cup frozen or fresh black sweet pitted cherries
1 cup nonfat, plain yogurt or kefir
4 ice cubes
¼ cup toasted whole almonds
1 tsp almond extract
2 tsp granulated sugar
2 Tbsp ground golden flax

Directions
In a blender combine cherries, yogurt or kefir, ice cubes, almonds, almond extract, sugar, and flax.
