A treatment plan has been outlined for you that includes radiation therapy. Your radiation oncologist will discuss the therapy with you in greater detail. But before your first treatment, your healthcare provider may want to get up-to-date information to ensure you get the most benefit from your treatment. Here are some items your doctor may discuss:

  • Your current health: We will want to know how you have been feeling since your last appointment.
  • Have you experienced any changes in your health or any major life stresses since your last appointment? Have you begun any new medical treatment? Have you resumed or started smoking, taken in excessive alcohol, stopped or started taking prescription medication or over-the-counter medications of any kind?
  • Your medication history: Your doctor may review with you any allergies you have to medications or anesthesia.
