Michelle, RNC, practices at Community Medical Center in Missoula, MT.
Patient Carol H. shares how this oncology nurse navigator made a difference in her life:
“In February 2010, I discovered a lump in my left breast. After a diagnostic mammogram and a needle biopsy, my doctor called me to tell me 'It is cancer!' After explaining all the choices I had, he told me to contact Michelle as soon as possible for an appointment. She returned my call quickly and the very next day I met with her.
Michelle gave me booklets from the American Cancer Society. She explained the procedures and set up appointments for me with the surgeon and oncologist. She offered consolation, support, hugs and lots of information. I have to admit that after I read all the various booklets, I felt my brain would explode! Michelle was so patient! I must have asked the same questions a ‘bizzilion’ times.
In March 2010, I had a left total mastectomy. After recovery, I started chemotherapy and Michelle was there to cheer me on! I also started attending the Breast Cancer Support Group that Michelle directed.
I’ll never be able to express my gratitude to Michelle for all she has done for me. She will always be a WINNER to me!”—Carol H.
